The Leader's Fear:   What is one of the all time hindrances to successful leadership? The Leader’s fear to delegate.  But it’s with good reason they fear – they have delegated before and what did they discover? Poor and half-hearted results. You see a leader doesn’t mind delegating but what a leader fears and detests is delegating and then it is done poorly. It’s a reflection on the leader and more importantly on the Lord. They both deserve our best.

Lessons learned: (1) If you are a leader, start with small assignments and see the quality of the work delegated. I was blessed to have a secretary for 15 years that nearly every time exceeded my expectation. Wow it was nice to give her an assignment and walk away knowing it would be done right.  Most Leaders do a quality job and love to do things right. But as a Leader you can’t do it all. If you are going to accomplish all the Lord puts into your heart, then you must overcome your fear of delegation, teach people to do their best (evaluation and accountability) and then trust God.

(2) If you are serving a Leader, then give 100% of your best. Please, for the sake of the Lord, your leader and your church, don’t do things half-hearted. Excel in your ministry assignment. Focus on the task at hand and evaluate you efforts. Think from the perspective of those who will be directly affected by what you are doing. Will it work well for them? Will it greatly honor the Lord? Will your leader be grateful they asked you to do it?
